Collar Me By Your Name

Hello, hello and welcome back to the Quality Wines newsletter, it’s been a minute. It’s the weekend and with blinkers on, we’re rousing a notion of joie de vivre, of escapism and tentatively, of Spring.

A plethora of new dishes have hit the blackboard this week, but the chalk of the town is a return to first team action of our P.L.T!

Pancetta, thinly sliced and crisp, punchy & porky, sits amongst the best Sicilian tomatoes, mayonnaise & crisp iceberg lettuce; all encased in a toasted, sesame freckled milk bun. Available at lunchtime and between 5pm-7pm, Tuesday to Saturday with a Peroni Rosso or piccolo negroni, for the international financial crisis beating £10!

V for Vinaigrette! Firm and proud spears of white asparagus are peeled & blanched, then bedded in our Champagne infused vinaigrette. People should not be afraid of their vinaigrette. Vinaigrette should be afraid of their people.

Hand-dived South-West scallops are roasted in a verdant butter of garlic, parsley & Pernod. A very QW take on a classic Cornish Pastis.

Bracingly saline & chloroterrific agretti is dressed in anchovy, sitting in sweet opposition with alabaster ricotta from Emilia Romagna and topped with pangrattato. A salad of chickpeas, parsley & sumac is fresh and invigorating. A soup of farinata & cavolo nero provides some succour in the form of zuppa.

Turbot steaks come with (y)Umbrian lentils and a Tarragon forward salsa verde. Spines and heads of the beasts are available roasted and alongside mayonnaise. Sticky & collagen heavy, a mess worthy of a second napkin. Risotto bianco is imbued with raddicchio bitters & Taleggio funk. An ode to the Po.

Finally, succulent pork collars have been braised with potatoes, lemon and oregano. Infused with the enthusiasm of a rather wonderful week in Athens.

Our lunch set menu remains at £27, Tuesday to Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Marcos, Nick & the team.
