When the Moon Hits Your Eye Like a Big Sausage Pie

And That’s Amore! Welcome to the weekend, big crooners, boozers, ‘tiny chicken meatballs’ and the Quality Wines newsletter.

It’s back to school. The end of August sees new pairs of Kickers, pencil cases & wholesale changes to the QW menu.

Back from Greece? Back to reality. Greek salad back with a bang. We still just call it salad in this house.

There will be caponata!

A return of the bona fide QW classic of scallops roasted in Cafe de Paris butter. If you haven’t you should, if you have, you will.

Steamed hake will come with chickpeas bolstered with harissa & lemon. Pan-fried veal sweetbreads with potatoes and a positively Autumnal, Vin Jaune & cream sauce.

Tagliolini with ‘tiny chicken meatballs’, Trebbiano & Pecorino will be available on an evening (in Roma) while the George Harrison cover will be available at lunch. Spaghetti alla chitarra (gently weeping) the nood of choice between 12 & 2:30pm. Still £15 for the ‘Express Lunch’ & a glass, beer or soft, Tuesday to Saturday.

There is a mysterious sausage pie. I’m sure nothing to do with a recent excursion to Lyon. And, there is a rice pudding with Sicilian mango. Reasons for visits in themselves.

Looking forward to welcoming you all next week.
