One Steak to the Tuna of Another...

It’s the end of the long weekend, an overcrowded flight back on a city break, a delicious jerk and a twerk in West, a vicious hangover. Welcome then to some R&R, TLC, OMG at your favourite EC1 bolthole. Your soft landing, your absolution, your soft boiled egg. Welcome to the newsletter & welcome to Quality Wines.
Next week in return for your hard earned buck: oh fava of Feneos comes with long green Mediterranean peppers, just how we like them, olives & lots of lemon; bull’s heart tomatoes from the black sand soils of Vesuvius offer a mineral counter point to the naive pleasures of Zerbinati cantaloupes & that zeitgeistic zyg.o.a.t sits a top salt hake city & marinated chickpeas with parsley.
Chicken thighs & legs marinated in saffron, cumin, paprika are baked in ‘tagine’ with carrots, green olives & served with cous cous, a spiced ride on a cloud through the Atlas mountains, where boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended; risotto bianco of girolles is simplicity & pleasure itself, fortified with aged Parmigiano Reggiano; finally, British-water caught tuna steaks are seared & served with crispy potatoes & a fine ratatouille. Only a select few of these beautiful fish can be landed off the shore of the UK yearly, there numbers having slowly replenished after years of over fishing. A truly singular product and not one to be missed.
As ever set lunch is available Tuesday to Saturday, £29 for 2 courses or £35 for 3 courses.
This Sunday we welcome Dara Klein to cook a Puglianese feast with Nick. A few spots have opened as so this limited availability to book, do get in touch.
Hoping to see you all soon.
